My life-long friend Bob Barcus and I were alto saxophonists in Heights High concert band along with percussionist Jim Fox. As a celebration at the end of the school year, band director Kaarlo Mackey allowed us to have cookies and sodas passed out to the band members seated behind our music stands in the band room. After receiving our goodies, Barcus and I laughed at something funny that was said. Mr. Mackey became incensed and pointed his finger at both of us and yelled, "You, boy, OUT." We were puzzled and asked him why we were being asked (commanded) to leave during a party. Kaarlo answered sternly, "You are having too much fun." And that was high school band.
