After graduation, Rick enrolled at Washington University in St Louis, joined SAM, changed his major from Pre-Med to Drama with an emphasis in design and technical production. Summers were spent in Stock theatres(including Musicarnival) and then on to NYU School of the Arts to prepare for a Broadway career.
Instead, he got hired by Rock Promoter Bill Graham to be a lighting designer in San Francisco and on tour which led to extensive touring with Santana(35 countries in 15 months), Joe Cocker, The Beach Boys, The Jacksons(Michael was 18), Bette Midler and many others. He returned to Cleveland as Production Manager for Belkin Productions' World Series of Rock 1979-83 at Cleveland Municipal Stadium.
Then on to more-mainstream shows featuring fellow-Clevelander Joel Grey, Bernadette Peters, Popes John-Paul and Bernard, and tours with Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet and corporate clients.
Rick lives in San Francisco with his husband Robert Konishi.
As a retirement career, he renovates and sells homes to executives from Google, Facebook, Twitter and other Tech companies.
