Sherwin Jacobs

Attended Washington and Lee University - 1965 - 1969, then went on to Washington and Lee Law School, 1969 - 1972. Opened a retail store in 1967 while in school (aka a "head shop" that put me thru law school). Clerked for the Hon. Ted Dalton, United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia in Roanoke - 1972 - 1973. In the fall of 1973 opened another retail store in a large Roanoke Mall which eventually expanded to four stores. Began investing in real estate in 1977.

After 25 years got tired of retail and closed the last store in February of 1995. By that time had moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia (1987) and started a law practice in 1991 while Carla and I were extracating ourselves from retail. Have practiced law since 1991 along with continuing in real estate investment. Plan to retire in 2017.

Decided not to retire just yet. Court and trials have become fun.

2021 - I finally retired (almost) in 2019. I stopped taking any new clients in June of 2019 and closed out almost all all of my active litigation cases in 2020. The final case was just recently closed. I am continuing to do work as a "Guardian ad Litem", which is someone who represents children in various court cases. While it still involves litigation, it is low stress because I am representing the interests of the children and not the parents or social services

My wife and I recently sold our home on 11 acres. It was almost 6,900 sf and was getting to be just too large a home and grounds to maintain. Having sold all of our other properties in the past few years, we are now in the position of deciding where we would like to go without the worry of owning property - at least until we build a smaller home.

Our daughter, Leah, graduated last June from Northwestern University with an MBA. She is currently living in Chicago and continuing to work for Boston Consulting Group. Our daughter, Tamara, continues to live in Nashville and our son, Alex, lives in Hunt Valley, MD.

My wife and I have both had our COVID shots and hopefully will start to travel again this fall.
