In Memory

James Achtenberg

Per John Quinlan: It is with sadness that I am communicating the passing of our Canterbury, Roxboro, CHHS friend Jim Achtenberg. It’s always sad when you lose a friend and Jim was my best friend at Canterbury. I did manage to rekindle our friendship in 2007 with help from his sister Lynn and Jay Mansbach . You may remember that in my quest to find  Jim after I retired in 2006 I ended up reconnecting with many old friends .

Jim was diabetic since 3rd grade and the toll on his health finally called him back to our Lord. He lived with wonderful people who cared and were with him to the end.

We know little about each other...I remember James Achtenberg as one of the nice kids...Rest in peace.

I worked with Jim at Cumberland Pool. Quiet person with a dry sense of humor, and, as Ralph mentioned, a nice guy. Didn't know he was diabetic; he never mentioned it that I recall.
