Mr. Covey was born in Huntington, Indiana, on March 14, 1947, a son of Donald Covey and Vivan Wright Covey. He was a musical instrument maker, specifically the oboe, and was a member of the International Double Reed Society. He had lived in Blairsville since August of 2007, and had been a resident of Atlanta for 11 years prior.
Surviving family members include his parents, Donald and Vivian, of St. Petersburg, Florida; a sister, Suzanne Swisher, also of St. Petersburg.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., from St. Martin of the Fields Episcopal Church.
